Blepharitis Treatment
Blepharitis is a common condition that presents with several challenges. Despite the frequency with which patients report symptoms of this condition, it remains largely under-diagnosed or misdiagnosed.
Blepharitis is characterized by red, crusted, irritated and puffy eyes that itch and burn. Blepharitis can affect visual function and physical appearance, making patients feel uncomfortable.
Blepharitis is a known cause of evaporative dry eye, chalazia formation, loss of eyelashes, and even corneal ulceration. Ultimately, if left untreated, it can cause potentially serious complications and affect a patients vision and quality of life.
Traditional treatment of blepharitis, including lid hygiene and warm compresses, followed by gentle lid cleaning and mechanical lid massage, often provides some improvement in symptoms.
At Vancouver Eye Doctor, we also use in-office lid hygiene treatments to also manage blepharitis. These include Intense Pulse Light (IPL) Therapy and BlephEx.
BlephEx is an in-office treatment that gently exfoliate the eyelids and lash lines, sloughing off any build-up without harming the eye.
