Scleral Lenses

Scleral lenses are large-diameter gas permeable contact lenses specially designed to vault over the entire corneal surface and rest on the “white” of the eye (the sclera). In doing so, these specialty contact lenses are able to hold a tear reservoir, which continuously “bathes” the surface of the eye. This tear reservoir helps to heal the surface of the eye in conditions where the ocular surface is damaged.

Scleral lenses are commonly used to improve vision and comfort in those with:

Dry Eye Syndrome
Sjogren’s Syndrome
Keratoconus
Surgical Complications
